About the event

The IGUAZU SUMMIT “Implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation in MERCOSUR countries: Achievements and Further Challenges” was an international seminar held in the city of Puerto Iguazú, province of Misiones, Argentina, on 14-15 March 2024.

This event was organized in the framework of the Innovation and Transformation Dialogue on the New Deforestation-free Regulation of the European Union, based in Argentina. It was also promoted by international cooperation projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL): the German-Argentine Dialogue on Sustainable Agricultural Innovations, implemented in collaboration with the Argentinian State Secretary of Bioeconomy and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), German-Brazilian Dialogue on Agricultural Policy and the German-Uruguayan Dialogue on Agriculture.

The objective of IGUAZU SUMMIT was to bring together business representatives, experts, academics, civil society, and political decision-makers from Mercosur countries and Germany to deepen the opportunities and challenges presented by the new regulation. The event provided the opportunity to learn from the solutions generated in different countries and define a roadmap to address the critical technological issues that facilitate its efficient implementation.
